Outstanding Teen

North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen is Kayla Renee Hollingsworth. Kayla is the daughter of Ted and Debbie Deaton Hollingsworth; she has one brother, Robert. Kayla is a senior at Randleman High School where she is involved in a number of clubs and activities. Student Council, Beta Club, Key Club, DECA, Pep Club and chorus at school, as well as dance classes in the evening keep her very busy. She has also been involved with the Randolph County Student LIFT Program, the Superintendent’s Student Action Coalition, and was a page for the North Carolina House of Representatives.

Kayla competed in the Thomasville’s Outstanding Teen pageant in 2008 where she was 4th runner-up. In 2009, she tried again and finished 1st runner-up. The third time was “a charm” in 2010 when she finally won the title of Thomasville’s Outstanding Teen. This led her to compete in North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. WOW! What a fun and exciting week! To be crowned North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen is truly an honor. This journey has taught Kayla patience and to trust in God for guidance.

Kayla is truly excited about being able to represent her state, to promote the Children’s Miracle Network, and her platform “Promoting Volunteerism among America’s Youth”.

“Your strengths are what define you … use them to make others stronger and you will grow.”
