Carli Batson
On June 26, 2021, Carli Batson was crowned the 83rd Miss North Carolina.
A native of Wilmington, Carli is the daughter of Keith and Lisa Batson. On track to graduate from Appalachian State University in the spring of 2022, Carli will receive a B.S. in Communication; Public Relations with a minor in Theatre Arts. In January 2020, Carli became Miss Cleveland, a community located in Johnston County which she represented as she competed for the Miss North Carolina title. Carli devotes much time to her Social Impact Initiative, Carolina Cares, through which funds are raised for performing arts communities in need. The inspiration for her involvement comes from her own desire to remain involved in the Arts after her family was impacted by a change in financial circumstances; therefore, her fervency to be an advocate for those without resources is something she has personally experienced. As Miss North Carolina, Carli won $22,000 in scholarship awards. The Miss America Organization offers young women incredible opportunities for educational advancement and volunteerism. Both Miss America and Miss North Carolina have provided Carli with a larger and more visible setting to support and highlight financially-challenged young performers just like herself. Because of this support, Carli will become the first college graduate in her family and will do so debt-free. Carli will be a strong spokesperson and proponent for both the Miss America and Miss North Carolina organizations during her year of service as she impacts the citizens of the great Tarheel State!
