NIGHT TWO PRELIMINARY RESULTS: MISS NORTH CAROLINA & MISS NORTH CAROLINA’S TEEN 2024

HIGH POINT (June 28, 2024) –

The Miss North Carolina and Miss North Carolina’s Teen preliminary competitions continued at the High Point Theatre yesterday evening. More than 70 contestants from across the Tar Heel state competed in the second night of preliminaries to qualify for the final competition on Saturday, June 29 which will lead two young women to the Miss America and Miss America’s Teen national pageants.

Miss North Carolina Preliminary Winners:

• Miss Preliminary Talent Award for a $1,000 scholarship provided by David Clegg, President and Chairman of the MNCO Board of Directors was a tie with Taylor Foley, Miss Thomasville – a native of Harrisburg – and Miss Johnston County, Carrie Everett, a student at North Carolina Central University. Foley performed an operatic vocal performance to “Quando me’n vo” from Puccini’s “La Bohème.” Everett performed a musical theatre vocal to “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from “Dreamgirls.”
• Miss Preliminary Evening Gown Award for a $1,000 scholarship provided by Mike Golden, Vice President of the MNCO Board of Directors & Deborah Golden is Lauryn Mallard, Miss Ballantyne. She is a native of Advance.  

Miss North Carolina’s Teen Preliminary Winners:

• Teen Preliminary Talent Award for a $500 scholarship provided by Elizabeth Taylor Williams, Miss North Carolina 1982, is Colleen McDermott, Miss Garner’s Teen who performed an Irish dance to “Reel Around the Sun.” She is a native of Apex.
• Teen Preliminary Evening Gown Award for a $250 scholarship is Camdyn Lee, Miss Ballantyne’s Teen who is a native of Catawba.

An additional award winner from night one – Julia Walsh who is Miss Lake Norman – was announced as having tied for Miss Preliminary Talent Award with Sarah Beth Howard, Miss Sandhills. Walsh, a native of Raleigh, performed “The Wizard and I” from “Wicked: The Musical.”

Final competitions for Miss North Carolina’s Teen and Miss North Carolina begin on Saturday at 2:30PM and 7:30PM, respectively. All on-stage preliminaries and finals will also be available for streaming online.
