Delilah Claire Hadyk of Kernersville, N.C., was crowned Miss Statesville’s Teen 2027 on Oct. 10, 2026, at North Iredell High School in Olin, N.C.

Hadyk takes the title with a community service initiative that began with her own childhood. The Not Perfect Movement rests on the proposition that what sets a person apart is not something to be smoothed over, and the same thread runs through her talent selection and her account of why she competes: a titleholder who describes herself as having once been incredibly shy now spends her time getting other girls to speak.

“Growing up, I was incredibly shy, I went six months without correcting my dance teacher when she mispronounced my name,” Hadyk said. She started the initiative, she said, after thinking about “the countless other kids who felt the same way.” It is built, in her words, “on the belief that our imperfections are our strengths and our differences are our powers.”

Hadyk describes herself as an actor, competitive dancer and singer “with a passion for storytelling both on and off the stage.” She is a high school junior, dual-enrolled at Guilford Technical Community College, and plans to finish an associate degree before pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, which she hopes to do at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In the talent category she performs a vocal of “Firework,” a choice she settled on after seeing Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway with her mother and sister and recognizing how closely the song’s message tracked her own initiative. The Not Perfect Movement runs on Kindness Walls, school visits, community donation drives and #notperfect bracelets.

One service moment she returns to is a toy drive she organized for families affected by Hurricane Helene. “Getting to help collect and deliver hundreds of toys was incredibly meaningful, but seeing the children’s faces as they received them is what truly stayed with me,” Hadyk said. “It reminded me that even during someone’s hardest moments, a little kindness can bring joy and show them they aren’t forgotten.”

Hadyk has held two previous titles in the Miss America Opportunity: Miss Charlotte’s Teen 2025 and Miss Ballantyne’s Teen 2026. She also lists a set of awards from those years, among them National Teen Heart Champion for the American Heart Association.

Hadyk will represent Statesville at the Miss North Carolina’s Teen competition in High Point in June 2027.

In Her Words

What would you tell a young girl in your community who is watching you?

I’d ask her, “Have you ever heard of the Miss America Opportunity?” and encourage her to give it a chance! I’m always excited to introduce girls to this organization because I want them to experience the same confidence, leadership, and personal growth it has given me. I’ve helped four girls begin their pageant journeys, and three have gone on to become titleholders! Watching them discover their voices and step into leadership has been one of the most rewarding parts of my own journey.

What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

I was homeschooled for nine years! Most people definitely would not guess this just based on how much I talk!

Tell us about your talent. What did you perform, and why did you choose that piece?

Choosing my talent song for Miss North Carolina’s Teen was a STRUGGLE until I saw Moulin Rouge on Broadway with my mom and sister. Watching Meg Donnelly perform “Firework” as Satine, all three of us looked at each other and immediately knew it was my talent! The lyrics and message connected so beautifully with The Not Perfect Movement, making it the perfect way to combine my love of performing with my passion for helping others embrace what makes them unique.

How has the Miss America Opportunity already impacted you?

I genuinely wouldn’t be who I am today without the Miss America Opportunity. I started competing at fourteen, and this organization has pushed me outside my comfort zone while opening doors I never imagined possible. It has taught me leadership, time management, social media strategy, and the importance of putting service first. Most importantly, it has shown me that a crown is so much more than something you wear, it’s an opportunity to help others grow, too.
