Digital Spotlight interview with Ava Isabella Silver

Q: Tell us a little about yourself!
A: I’m from Goldsboro, NC. I am currently a high school Senior at Wayne Christian School and will graduate in May. I am dually enrolled at Wayne Community College. Following that, I am committed to attending North Carolina State University, where I will study international politics.

Q: What should we know about your Community Service Initiative?
A: My mission is to educate and empower my generation to take action against pollution and protect our water. By raising awareness about the harmful effects of pollution, I reduce litter, promote clean water, and encourage everyone to take responsibility for preserving the environment. Through children’s education, social media campaigns, organizing community clean-ups, and collaborating with leaders, I am focused on making a positive, lasting impact locally to globally— because without clean water, there is no life.

Q: What talent did you perform at your local competition?
A: I performed a vocal rendition of “A Piece of Sky.”

Q: Do you have any previous experience within the Miss America Opportunity?
A: I previously held the title of Miss Dunn’s Teen 2025.

Q: What’s one fun fact about you?
A: I walked a Broadway Red Carpet. I made my NYC performance debut at Birdland with Billy Stritch. I sang the national anthem for a U.S. President’s family. I am an advanced open-water scuba diver!

Q: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off when you’re not competing or volunteering?
A: I absolutely love to cuddle up with a good book and read!

Q: What’s your favorite way to stay #MissAmericaFit?
A: As an advanced certified scuba diver, now finishing my Rescue and CPR certification, I experience the importance of overall health and fitness on every dive. It takes mental and physical training and strength, much like an athlete, with the added layer of underwater safety. Growing up with a Cardiac ICU nurse as my mom, nutritious meals and movement—whether through Pilates, Barre, or long walks—were never just “habits,” but a way of life. As I grow older, singing and dancing have been daily ways to move my body in a positive and creative way. Whether underwater, in a workout class, or on a stage, full-body fitness is integral to who I am.

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to a younger girl who looks up to you, what would it be?
A: “If service is beneath you, leadership is beyond you.” True leadership isn’t about titles, crowns, or recognition, but rather it’s about showing up, helping others, and using your voice to make a difference. Never think you’re too small to serve or too young to lead, because real impact starts with a willing heart.

Q: Where can people support your American Heart Association efforts?
A: Visit my Spotfund page to support my efforts and learn more about heart health awareness!
