Current Schooling: I am currently a sophomore at East Gaston High School. This fall I will be a dual-enrolled student, taking courses at both East Gaston High School and Gaston College through North Carolina’s Career and College Promise Program.

What are your scholastic and/or career ambitions? I am currently working to complete an Associate of Science degree by the end of my senior year at East Gaston High School. After graduation, I will complete a Bachelor of Science degree focusing in pre-med studies. This will enable me to attend medical school, where I can achieve my ultimate goal of becoming an OB/GYN.

Community Service Initiative (CSI): Talk About It: Mental Health Awareness for Teens

What are some objectives you have as a titleholder? CSI: Talk About It: Mental Health Awareness for Teens
Seeing the detrimental effects of poor mental health in our communities, and going through my own personal battles in recent years, I strive to be an advocate for teens struggling with their mental health. I want them to know that they are not alone and that there are safe places to turn for help.

Objectives: Hold a Mental Health Awareness week at my high school to decrease the stigma surrounding mental health problems and promote local resources for help in my community.
Work with the Mental Health Department of the Gaston County Teen Wellness Center to educate young people on mental health and promote resources for help across Gaston County and the surrounding counties of North Carolina.
Partner with national organizations like Mental Health America and the National Alliance on Mental Illness to educate and promote positive mental health for young people across the nation.

What are some interesting facts about you? I have an exceptional auditory memory and can recite almost every song, play, movie, and TV show I have ever heard or watched!
I am an actress and model and was in a commercial in 2019 for the company Prym. Orignally founded in 1530, Prym is Germany’s oldest family owned company and one of the oldest companies in the world!
I am a Stranger Things junkie and was honored to audition for several parts in the series in 2021 and 2022. I also got to attend the live Stranger Things Experience when they toured in Atlanta, Georgia. It was one of the coolest things I have ever done!

What do you enjoy doing for fun? I love to run, especially long distance! I participate in Cross Country and Track and Field at my school. I also love to sing and am an active member of my high school’s Honor Chorus, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the North Carolina All County Chorus Festival, and the All-West Regional Chorus. When I am not busy running or singing, I love spending time with my family, friends, and animals.
