Current Schooling: I received an Associate of Arts from Randolph Early College before attending Western Carolina University. While at WCU, I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management. I then attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I received a Master of Arts in Communications Studies and served as a teaching assistant. Currently, I am a full-time employee at an environmental non-profit and am completing my NC Environmental Education Certification. I am looking to start a post-baccalaureate certificate program in the realm of sustainability.
What are your scholastic and/or career ambitions? I want to complete my North Carolina Environmental Education Program and eventually obtain a Master’s degree in Sustainability. I also want to continue working for a non-profit or a municipality in Water Resources.
Community Service Initiative (CSI): Sustainable Shareable Solutions
What are some objectives you have as a titleholder? Sustainable Shareable Solutions protects our drinking & recreational water for generations through eco-based volunteering & implementing environmental education in communities. I plan to implement my education tour called the “Water Works” program in Title 1 schools in Davidson County, NC Cooperative Extension offices, and children’s groups in Thomasville. I will continue to partner with other non-profits, such as Keep Davidson County Beautiful and the Thomasville Beautification Committee, to host and participate in volunteer opportunities ranging from clean-ups to tree plantings. I will continue to spearhead my storm drain project, replacing damaged storm drain markers and educating individuals about protecting streams. Lastly, I will share Davidson County tourist sites such as High Rock Lake and Lake Thom-A-Lex trails, and encourage people to get outdoors!
What are some interesting facts about you? I served as the Carolina Princess (now the Carolina Stars Program) to Katherine Puryear, who was Miss Thomasville Teen before capturing the title of Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen 2009! I am a Sunshine Yoga Model and have been featured on yoga mats nationally and on Amazon. I am a huge WWE wrestling fan and even met a famous wrestler after one of my clean-ups as a titleholder! I competed in my first Body Building show in 2022 and was the Novice Winner in the figure division.
What do you enjoy doing for fun? I enjoy indoor cycling and weightlifting classes at the Iron Will in High Point, North Carolina. I also enjoy playing with my rescue animals, including my white German shepherd, Tucker Welborn, and cat, Sassafras Welborn. I love traveling to all the North Carolina State and National Parks, and a bucket list item is to visit them all! I also enjoy kayaking in lakes and rivers and camping outdoors!
